Nokia Launches Seven Low-End Phones in India!

There is some very good news coming your way courtesy Nokia. PC World is reporting that Nokia has launched seven low-cost phones in India, including two phones that an entire village can use!

Apparently, these two phones(1200 and 1208) offer multiple phonebooks and call time tracking. Call time tracking is a fancy name for the facility that allows a person to set time and/or cost limits to phone calls. We think this is a cool concept, and it will greatly benefit the village PCOs that suffer from poor BSNL service.

With the number of mobile phone connects increasing at a scorching pace, we don’t think that Dayanidhi Maran’s target of 500 million phones by 2010 is too difficult to reach.

More power to the rural consumers!
