
So, the stories from WSJ and the like have indeed been proven right. CEO Eric Schmidt made it clear during today’s announcement that there is no single Gphone. Android is a fully integrated mobile operating system and he sees thousands of Gphones in the future. Google, along with 33 other companies is part of the Open Hardware Alliance. Among others, the OHA includes industry biggies like Qualcomm, T-Mobile, HTC and Motorola, whose executives were also present at the conference.The OS will be released under a mobile open source license and is based on Linux. T-Mobile announced that their first device running Android should be coming sometime in 2008. HTC’s first device will become available in the 2nd half of 2008. Awww, seriously guys? Can’t you like release them tomorrow or something?
